If salt water and sand isn’t your thing, then there are plenty of pools, both public and private, indoor and outdoor, around Long Island that you’re able to enjoy. In addition to pools that are open for free form swimming, many also offer a diving section, lanes for laps, shallow water kiddy pool areas for the little ones, and some even boast additional amenities such as water slides, lazy rivers and sprinklers to run through. Many also host swimming lessons, from toddler classes to expert and lifeguard courses, and every intermediate level in between. Some pools offer full snack bars, swimmie and float rentals for those of less skill, and even shops to purchase towels and sunscreen, while others have picnic areas and encourage you to pack your own swim gear and meals before heading out to the pool. So if you’re ready to show off your cannon ball skills, or want to teach the kids how to be safe in the water, make sure to check out one of the local pools, featured in almost every community on Long Island.
