For the Coastal Flood Statement, up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...Northwest Suffolk County. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 11 PM this evening to 3 AM EDT Friday. For the Coastal Flood Statement, late Friday night. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding.

The loss of a beloved pet can be one of the most traumatic events in a person’s life. Most people are unaware that there are a variety of resources can help a pet owner come to terms with the loss of their pet. The following is a list of pet bereavement services, counselors and support groups to help you get through this difficult time.

Sonia Wagner, C.S.W. offers counselling for children, families, couples and individuals who are struggling to cope with the loss of a pet. She operates an office in Rockville Centre and can be contacted at (718) 831-0035.

Susan Ehlers is a grief specialist that specializes in the human-animal bond. She is available at times of illness or death to help pet owners adjust to the transition and aid in making end of life decisions. Ehlers operates an office in Riverhead and can be reached at (631) 276-6184.

Bideawee, one of the nation’s leading animal welfare organizations, offers a variety of resources for pet owners at the time of pet loss. Two pet cemeteries, one in Wantaugh and one in Westhampton, have become the eternal resting place for over 35,000 Long Island pets. Bideawee also offers Pet Loss Support Groups meeting in the same two towns. Every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month groups meet in Wantaugh, and every 3rd Saturday in Westhampton. You can arrange to take part in this group by contacting Bideawee’s Learning Center in advance at (866) 262-8133.
